About gardenbloggers

gardenbloggers is a plant care site for home gardeners in the United States. We write plain, checked guides to popular plants, flowers, vegetables, herbs, shrubs, trees and houseplants, plus beginner guides and simple tools.

What you will find

• A plant finder for 50 popular garden plants, with filters for sun, water, USDA zone, pet safety and edibility.
• Plant pages with real photos, care steps, common problems and pet toxicity from the ASPCA.
• Beginner guides, watering and hose guides and a zone tool and planting calendar.

How we check facts

Plant sizes, light, soil and hardiness zones come from university extension services, mainly the NC State Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox. Accepted names come from the USDA PLANTS Database. Pet safety comes from the ASPCA's toxic and non-toxic plant lists. If a fact is uncertain, we leave it out. Read the editorial policy.

The earlier sites at this address

Between 2008 and 2013 this domain hosted a blog about garden blogging, and later a site about garden hoses. We are a new, independent site. We have written fresh pages on several of the same topics, such as garden blogging tips and watering and hoses; none of the old text is reused.
